Ogun State’s new Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu has shown readiness to support the State Judiciary in dispensing Justice rightly without fear, favour or ill-will.

Alamutu revealed this during a familiarity visit to the Ogun State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu in his Lordship’s office at the Judiciary Complex in Abeokuta.

The Police Commissioner, while appreciating the laudable achievements  of the Judiciary under the leadership of the Hon. Chief Judge, sought the support and cooperation of Ogun State Judiciary especially in case management.

Alamutu promised not to come up with haphazard investigations, but investigations to back up facts against offenders would be made available as soon as they were concluded.

On security, Alamutu said “considering the level of security challenges facing the State presently, I can vividly say that Ogun State is one of the safest States in the country but that is not saying we don’t have issues that we need to take care of before they become unmanageable”.

Adding that “we cannot eradicate crime but we know we can make further efforts to reduce it to the bearest minimum”.

Responding, the Hon. Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, said bringing criminals to court, sentencing them is not the only way to curb crime instead the government should ensure things are made easy for its citizenry.

Hon. Justice Dipeolu stressed that “the court want to assist and would do everything within the law to ensure that the needful is done.

Speaking on charge and bail incidents, the Chief Judge revealed that very soon Ogun State Judiciary would acquire a fingerprint equipment to capture full profiling of released inmates during jail delivery exercises.

The Chief Judge also added that the creation of the Licencing Board entailing professionals that are registered with the Ogun State Judiciary has reduced the rate of accused persons absconding after being granted bail.
