July 9, 2024The long term advocacy for the establishment of a Division of the Court of Appeal In Ogun State to ensure swift justice delivery in is closer to becoming a reality as his Lordship, the President of Court of Appeal, Hon.Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem visited the Ogun State Judiciary Complex, Abeokuta recently as part of the efforts of the Court of Appeal to clear the backlog of appeals at the Ibadan Division of the Court of Appeal.
Eight panels led by the President of the Court of Appeal heard over 130 appeals between Monday, 6th May, 2024 and Thursday, 9th May, 2024 at a Special sitting in Abeokuta.
As part of the activities slated for the exercise,the Honourable Chief Judge of Ogun State, Hon. Justice M. A. Dipeolu, FICMC, FHNR accompanied the President of the Court of Appeal and other Presiding Justices of the Court of Appeal who were present in the State on a courtesy visit to the Governor of the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, MFR during which the Governor made the request for the establishment of a Division of the Court of Appeal in Ogun State.
Hon. Justice Dongban-Mensem during the visit commended Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration for its transformational efforts and collaboration with the Judiciary in order to ensure swift justice delivery. His Lordship equally lauded the State Judiciary headed by Hon .Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu for its various commendable efforts in implementing reforms that have led to quick dispensation of Justice in Ogun State.
While welcoming ,Hon justice Donghan-Mensem and other Judges to his office, Prince Dapo Abiodun also expressed his gratitude to His Lordship for efforts in expediting appeals through decongestion initiative and importantly emphasised the need for a division of the Appeal Court in Ogun State to ease the workload of judges in the Ibadan Division.
His Excellency equally lauded the State Judiciary headed by His lordship Hon.Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu for its giant strides in implementing reforms and establishing a special court for cultism cases.
