EFFECTIVE JUDICIAL SYSTEM, A VERITABLE MECHANISM TO NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT – OGUN CJ
September 24, 2022

Judges, Magistrates, Judiciary workers as well as stakeholders in the administration of Justice have been advised to shun corruption and deliver judgment expeditiously as the nation prepares for the 2023 general elections.

The Bishop of the Methodist Church, Remo Diocese, the Rt. Rev’d, Bamidele Ibikunle gave this admonition at the Special Church Service organised by the Ogun State Judiciary to usher in 2022/2023 Legal Year held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta.

The Cleric in his sermon disclosed that corruption, insecurity and economic woes remain the major challenges confronting the country, maintaining that many Nigerians are pre-occupied with get-rich quick syndrome not minding its consequences on the future of the nation.

Bamidele, said to solve the many challenges facing the nation, Judges and the Judiciary workers must shun corruption and deliver judgment expeditiously, while those in authority should deal fairly, justly, equitably with the people knowing that all mortals would account for their stewardship at the end of their sojourn on earth to God.

In his good-will message, the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who was present at the occasion,  lauded the State Judiciary under the leadership of His Lordship, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu for keeping the legacy bestowed by the founding fathers, noting that the state had played a pioneering role in the evolution and development of a modern system of laws in Nigeria and in the west Africa Sub-region, imploring the current members of the bench in the state to keep the tradition of integrity, diligence, industry and excellence the state judiciary is known for.

The Governor further stated that Hon. Judges’ pronouncements on the bench must continue to reflect wisdom, credibility, tact and all other positive value that the wig symbolises. He thereby urged the Jurists to ensure justice at all times irrespective of whose Ox is gored.

The Chief Judge of Ogun State, Honourable Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu who appreciated God for the grace to witness new legal year also appreciated State Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, Judges, Magistrates, Nigerian Bar Association, other stakeholders in the Administration of Justice, other State Executives members as well as members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria in the State for their unalloyed supports at all times.

His Lordship thereby implored the lawyers and all court users to key into the available E-filing System of the Ogun State Judiciary for easy processing of the Courts processes.
