The Ogun State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu has expressed willingness to partner with the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), to hold the Maiden Conference that would promote the principles of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) among Judicial Officers in the State.

Hon. Justice Dipeolu made this known during the visit of the President, Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators, Dr. Agada John Elachi and a life member of the Institute’s Governing Council, Amb. Olusegun Ogunyanwo held at the Judiciary Complex, Kobape in Abeokuta.

The Chief Judge, who appreciated the Institute, especially Amb. Olusegun Ogunyanwo for assisting the Ogun State Judiciary in starting and developing ADR in Ogun State added that the State Judiciary had gained a lot.

Earlier in his remarks, the ICMC President, Dr. Agada Elachi, disclosed the Institute’s plan to collaborate with the Ogun State Judiciary in co-hosting the First Annual Conference on Alternative Dispute Resolution for Judicial Officers, adding that this is aimed at ensuring that Judicial Officers have further grasp of the mechanism of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).

“We do not necessarily need the expert who are Mediators or Arbitrators as the case maybe, but they must have the requisite knowledge that would assist Judicial officers in the referral of cases that will aid in decongesting their case dockets.” He said

Acknowledging Ogun State Judiciary’s positive contributions to ADR in the country, Dr. Elachi, appreciated the Hon. Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Dipeolu, for supporting the growth, development and promotion of the Institute within and outside State.

The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) is a professional body of practitioners with the mandate to regulate the practice of mediation, train prospective candidates and encourage organizations and institutions to adopt mediation and conciliations as the primary means for addressing disputes.
