The Ogun State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice (Dr.) Mosunmola Dipeolu, FICMC FHNR has charged her counterparts in the administration of justice to work towards having a respected judicial system through nomination of qualified candidates for appointment as Judges.

Noting that the Executive tactics of hijacking the process of nomination of candidates for the appointment of Hon. Judges is obvious, therefore, all stakeholders must avoid appointing half-baked Lawyers as Judges.

The Chief Judge disclosed this while receiving the representatives of the National Judiciary Committee of Nigerian Bar Association led by the Chairman, Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN in her office at Ogun State Judiciary Complex, Abeokuta the State Capital.

His Lordship maintained that there is boundary between Judiciary and Executive thereby imploring the States’ Chief Judges to know the extent of the power vested on them.

Appreciating Hon. Justice Dipeolu for His Lordship’s foresight, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN also submitted that the procedure for the appointment of Judges will be hijacked if not properly managed noting that it is indeed right and just to be adequately managed to forestall the appointment of unqualified candidates for the position.

On the reason of his visit, Ajibade said he was in State to discuss the outcome of the 2022 Justice Sector Reform Summit, the forthcoming 2024 Summit with State’s Chief Judge and to establish working relationship between the Bar and Judiciary at all levels in the country.

Dr. Babatunde Ajibade (SAN) was accompanied on the visit by Mr Yinka Kotoye (SAN) and other members of the committee who joined via zoom.
