Ogun State Chief Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu has expressed concern over a rise in the negative usage of information communication technology (ICT) by hoodlums in perpetrating crimes in the society.
Dipeolu says this has posed numerous challenges in investigation and adjudication in the criminal justice system in the country.
Justice Mosunmola expressed her concern in Abeokuta, at an ongoing training workshop for judges and magistrates in Ogun and Ondo States, on capacity development on best practices in electronic and forensic evidence.
She stressed the need for the training of judicial officers to generate innovation and strategies that will address the challenges that the courts face in the dispensation of justice.
The Ondo State Chief Judge, Justice Olarenwaju Akeredolu, represented by justice Adeyemi Fasanmi, says the digital forensic evidence will help the law enforcement officials and decision-makers in solving crimes and prepare evidence in court especially during criminal trials.
The workshop training was attended by judges and magistrates in Ogun and Ondo State.
