Ogun State Judiciary Drivers have been charged on the need to be road law abiding by ensuring safety of the vehicles to avoid any form of accidents and harms.
The Chief Judge of Ogun State, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu who was ably represented by Hon. Justice Olarenwaju Mabekoje gave the charge at a one-day internal training organised for drivers of the Ogun State Judiciary.
According to Hon. Justice Dipeolu, the training which apt on “Maintenance of Vehicles: Duties & Responsibilities of Drivers with Strict observation of Driving Rules and Regulations”would guide the drivers on tips of safety on the road and maintenance of vehicles.
The Chief Judge while admonishing the drivers to be well disciplined, trust worthy, honest, patient and responsible at their field of work, also implored them to always obey all traffic rules and regulations at ensuring smooth and safety of driving at all times.
The Head of Operation, Vehicle Inspection Service in Abeokuta, Engr. (Dr.) Abimbola Babalola who trained the drivers on the tips and precautions to be taken on the road, asked them to avoid drinking alcohol and use of hard drugs particularly while on duty, to observe traffic signs on roads, give precedence to pedestrians and uncontrolled zebra crossing.
Other tips of safety, according to the VIO marshal include, that drivers should avoid riding on paths that have been set apart or designated for pedestrians, a driver should not drive a vehicle without spare tyres, fire extinguisher and danger signs C-Caution among others.
According to Engr. Babalola, some of human factors that mostly cause accident include, over-confidence, over speeding, tiredness, lack of concentration, driving under influence of alcohol, over-loading , over-taking, driving against traffic among others.
The VIO marshal thereby indulge the drivers to always ensure that their vehicles are road worthy and in good conditions before plying the road to avoid danger, risk or threat of harm, injury or loss to personnel and or property.
