June 9, 2023Ogun State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu has again described the State’s Temple of Justice as an arm of government with an unshakeable integrity for standard and zero corruption.
The Chief Judge disclosed this in his Lordship’s address at the Induction Course organised by the Ogun State Judiciary for the newly appointed High Court Judges held at the State Judiciary Headquarters in Abeokuta.
Justice Dipeolu who implored the new Judges to uphold the integrity, keep standard and continue to blazing the trail of impartial Justice System in the State enjoined them to be good and remain faithful Judges.
“I am happy to say that Ogun State Judiciary has had an unshakeable integrity for standard and zero corruption over the years and it is my prayer that this record remains intact. Therefore, the duty falls on any newly appointed Hon. Judges to keep this standard and continue to blaze the trail”, His Lordship added.
Justice Dipeolu further charged the Judges to work towards competence, understanding of the law and knowledge of the procedure to avert contradiction noting that “A judge without an understanding of the law is no better than a pervert judge”.
On the six principles of the Judicial conduct drafted for the international Judicial Group to strengthen Judicial Integrity all over the world in 2002, His Lordship said any Judicial Officer seeking to excel and make a mark as a Judicial Officer must embrace and inculcate those principles as essentials of life on the bench.
The principles, according to the Chief Judge are Judicial Independence, Impartiality, integrity, propriety and the appearance of propriety, equality of treatment to all before the courts, competence and diligence.
Congratulating the new Judges on their elevation to the Bench, His lordship emphasised that “without a Judiciary which can and will administer law fairly and fearlessly between parties, no other guarantee given to the litigants by the law is likely to be of value’.
His lordship thereby charges new Judges to be good Ambassadors of the Justice System
Enumerating on the importance of the training, the Chairman, Ogun State Judiciary Training Committee, Hon. Justice Olarenwaju Mabekoje said the training was to enhance productivity, efficiency and quality of work among the new Judges.
“Training and development whether induction course or refresher course, no doubt would help to ensure that any organisation’s members possess the knowledge and skills they require to perform their jobs effectively, take on new responsibilities and adapt to changing condition”, Mabekoje stated.
